SEC Commissioner Hester M. Peirce, head of the agency’s Crypto Task Force, has underscored tokenization as a transformative force for capital markets. The technology could "substantially change" market infrastructure, settlement processes, and asset accessibility, according to her May 5 public statement.
The SEC will convene industry participants on May 12 at its Washington headquarters for a roundtable examining tokenization’s implications for decentralized finance. "I look forward to hearing ideas on how the SEC should approach this area," Peirce remarked, signaling regulatory openness to blockchain-based financial innovations.
